1 Peter 1

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away

From a friend.

As a bagpiper, I play many gigs. Recently I was asked by a funeral director
to play at a graveside service for a homeless man. He had no family or
friends, so the service was to be at a pauper’s cemetery in the Nova Scotia
back country.

As I was not familiar with the backwoods, I got lost and, being a typical
man, I didn’t stop for directions.

I finally arrived an hour late and saw the funeral guy had evidently gone
and the hearse was nowhere in sight. There were only the diggers and crew
left and they were eating lunch. I felt badly and apologized to the men for
being late.

I went to the side of the grave and looked down and the vault lid was
already in place. I didn’t know what else to do, so I started to play.

The workers put down their lunches and began to gather around. I played out
my heart and soul for this man with no family and friends. I played like
I’ve never played before for this homeless man.

And as I played “Amazing Grace”, the workers began to weep. They wept, I
wept, we all wept together. When I finished, I packed up my bagpipes and
started for my car. Though my head was hung low, my heart was full.

As I opened the door to my car, I heard one of the workers say, “I never
seen anything like that before, and I’ve been putting in septic tanks for
twenty years.”

Apparently, I’m still lost….it’s a man thing.

People who say it can’t be done should not interrupt those who are doing it…

People who say it can’t be done should not get in the way of those who are already doing it…

People who say it can’t be done should stay out of my way…

People who say it can’t be done… can’t do it…

People who say it can’t be done need to get a life… literally… …if they can☻

What kinda friend…?

Who makes a promise and keeps it even when it is no longer to his benefit… (Ps 15:4)

Know anyone like that?

We’ve all heard apologies like… “Sorry man, when I said I was going to do XYZ, I thought things were going to turn out differently.  There’s just no way I can do what I said… I’m in a tough spot too… sorry!”

Ever had a friend who stood by their word even when circumstances changed so that it was no longer in their best interest?

Persian Proverb

He who knows not, and knows not that he knows not, is a fool - shun him.

He who knows not, and knows that he knows not, is a child - teach him.

He who knows, and knows not that he knows, is asleep - wake him.

He who knows, and knows that he knows, is a wise man - follow him.
